FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Vita Julii a real person?

I've been asking myself that question, too.

Is Vita Julii your real name?

No.

Then, why are you not using your real name?

Because there are things called "maintaining anonymity" and "being mysterious."

Out of all the names available for the taking, why Vita Julii?

Once upon a time, I've read a book entitled "Golden Son" by Pierce Brown and it nearly killed me. One of the kickass characters in that book was named Victra Julii but I didn't like the sound of "Victra" much so I opted to go with "Vita" instead.

So are you really a venomancer?

Are you really a human being?

When and why did you start writing?

Because everyone needs a hobby.  Writing happens to fit both my personality and lifestyle. I'm a dreamer and thrive best when I'm shut up in my own little world making up crazy stories. So I figured why not put all of them into writing and share them with others? Who knows, some crazy person can relate.

As to when I started writing...well, I wrote my first novel when I was fourteen and that's a bajillion of years ago.   Computers are almost non-existent during those days so I have to write it using my mother's precious typewriter.  And since I am only depending on my parents for allowance, there's no way for me to bring the manuscript to a bookbinding center so I was reduced in binding the novel myself.  My first readers were my classmates and seeing their different reactions were the highlight of my writing stint during that time.  Some were gleeful, some were giddy, some were stunned, and some were just speechless.  I don't think that the last group was rendered speechless with the awesomeness of my work, it's probably that their minds are busy plotting on how to burn my book.

If you're going to ask me the title and whereabouts of my first novel, you might have to create a time machine and go back to the 1990s to figure that out.

How long have you been writing?

Around twelve years.  But the thing is, I only managed to finish one manuscript during that time span since after my first novel, all I did was start writing a new story and then after thirty pages or so, I'd lose either the drive or the inspiration to finish it.  When computers weren't a thing yet, I wrote  lots of stories on my notebooks which lay untouched and obviously, gathering dust and taking up drawer space at the present.

The moment that I got my own laptop, I stopped writing on notebooks and started cluttering my disk space with unfinished drafts.

How and where do you get your inspirations for your stories?

From anything basically.  My inspirations could be in the form of a sappy drama scene, an average person, a celebrity, a quote in the book, a picture, a real life situation, and even a single word.
